How to make a WhatsApp QR code

    1. Enter your number

Type your WhatsApp number with the country code, digits only, like 15551234567 for the United States. Leave out plus signs, spaces and dashes.

    2. Add a ready message

Write the first message people will send, such as Hi, I would like to book a table. It opens already typed, and the person only taps send. You can leave it empty.

    3. Download and test

Download a PNG for print or an SVG for design work, scan it with a phone, and check that the chat opens with your number and message before you print.

What happens when someone scans it

The phone camera reads the code and offers to open a WhatsApp chat with your number. If you added a message, it is already in the text box and the person decides whether to send it. They do not need your number saved, and you do not need to share it by voice or on paper.

Write a ready message that gets used

A good message says why the person is writing, in one short line, such as I saw your flyer and want a quote. It helps you sort chats and sets the topic from the first message. Keep it neutral enough for anyone who scans, and avoid long text, because people may edit it before sending.

    Using a business number

A WhatsApp Business number works the same way as a personal one: the code only holds the chat link for that number. Use the number your customers should reach, and make sure someone answers it, because the code will bring messages at any hour once it is printed on a window, a menu or a van.

    Changed numbers? Update without reprinting

A static code holds your number inside it, so a new number means a new code. If you may change numbers or teams, make it dynamic instead: a free URLHop account gives a short link that opens your chat, and you can point it to a new number later, with the printed code staying the same. You also see how many people scanned it.

Where to put a WhatsApp QR code

It fits shop windows, price lists, business cards, packaging, menus, event badges and delivery bags. Print it at least 2 cm (0.8 in) wide with strong contrast, add a line like Scan to chat with us on WhatsApp, and test the printed code with a phone before you print a large batch.

    WhatsApp QR code: questions

Is this WhatsApp QR code generator free?

Yes. You can make and download the code for free, with no account, no e-mail and no watermark, in PNG or SVG. There is no limit on how many codes you make.

How do I make a WhatsApp QR code with a message?

Open the Link tab with the WhatsApp option, type your number with the country code and write the message you want people to send. The code is built as you type, and the message opens already filled in on their phone.

Which number format should I use?

Use the full number with the country code and digits only, without plus sign, spaces or dashes. For a United States number that is 1 followed by the area code and number. A wrong format opens a chat that does not exist.

Does the WhatsApp QR code expire?

A static code does not expire, because the chat link is inside it and does not depend on URLHop. It only stops working if you stop using that number. A dynamic URLHop code does not expire either, and you can change which number it opens.

Can I see how many people scan it?

Not with the static code from this generator, which cannot count scans. A dynamic QR code from a free URLHop account counts scans by day, country and device, and can be pointed to a new number.

    Changing numbers or teams later?

A static WhatsApp code is locked to the number you typed. A dynamic one keeps working when the number changes and shows how many people scanned it. It is free to start.
