Business card QR code: static or dynamic
The vCard code puts your details inside the code. A dynamic code is a link, which suits the details you expect to change.

How to make a business card QR code
Fill in your details
Add your name and at least one way to reach you. Company, job title, website and address are optional, and fewer fields make a code that is simpler to scan.
Style it for the card
Pick a dark color on a light ground, add your logo if there is room, and keep the empty border. A business card code is often small, so contrast matters.
Download and test
Download a PNG for the printer or an SVG for a designer, then scan it with an iPhone and an Android phone and check that the contact looks right before you print.
What goes in a vCard
A vCard holds a name, company, job title, phone numbers, e-mail, website and address in a standard format that phones understand. It does not carry a photo. Every field you add makes the code denser, so put in what people will really use, usually name, mobile, e-mail and website.
iPhone and Android saving
On a recent iPhone and on most Android phones, the camera reads the code and offers to add the contact, with the fields already filled in. The person confirms before anything is saved. On older phones a scanner app may be needed. Test your printed card with both before you order a batch.
How big should the code be on a card
On a standard business card, a code about 2 to 2.5 cm (0.8 to 1 in) wide is a safe minimum, and a bigger one scans faster. A code with many fields is denser, so it needs more room. If it gets crowded, remove the address or the title, and print at the highest quality your printer supports.
Details change? Link in bio plus a dynamic QR
A vCard cannot be edited once printed, so a new job title or phone means a new code. If your details change often, print a dynamic QR code that opens a link-in-bio page instead. With a free URLHop account you edit the page any time and the printed card keeps working, and you see how many people scanned it.
Do business card QR codes expire?
The vCard code never expires, because the details are inside it and nothing depends on URLHop. It only gets out of date when your phone number or e-mail changes. A dynamic URLHop code does not expire either, and you can change what it opens whenever you need.
Business card QR code: questions
Is this vCard QR code generator free?
Yes. You can make and download a business card QR code for free, with no account, no e-mail and no watermark, as PNG or SVG.
What happens when someone scans my vCard QR code?
Their phone shows your contact details and offers to save them. They choose whether to add you, and they do not need to type anything. No internet connection is needed to read the details, because they are inside the code.
Which details should I include?
Name, mobile number, e-mail and website cover most needs. Add company and job title for a professional card. Leave out anything you do not want in a stranger's phone, like a home address, since a printed code can be scanned by anyone.
Can I change a vCard QR code after printing?
No. The details are written into the code, so it cannot be edited. Make a new code, or use a dynamic QR code that opens a page you can update, such as a link-in-bio page.
Are my contact details stored on your servers?
No. The code is built in your browser, and your name, phone and e-mail are not sent to us or saved. With your consent to analytics, we only measure that a contact code was made, never what is in it.
Details that keep changing?
A vCard is locked to what you typed. A dynamic QR code opens a page you can edit after printing, and shows how many people scanned. It is free to start.
